Events
Throughout the year there are many folk events in the various villages of the lake.
The "Sagra dei Osei" is well known and it is held in September in Cisano (Bardolino) involving bird song contests, music, dance and cuisine.
In connection with the area's wine tradition there are the Festa dell'Uva e del Vino Bardolino Classico Superiore DOCG and Festa Vino Novello Bardolino DOC, held in October and November.
Folklore and sport come together in competition between "Bisse" (vintage slender and pointed end lake boats, led by 4 standing rowers) as well as the famous "Bandiera del Lago" and the charming Contrada Palio of Garda.
Moreover, during the summer, villages organise "Feste dell'Ospite" during which you can watch traditional competitions or tournaments like "Cuccagna del Cadenon" in Lazise: this involves a greasy pole being placed horizontally in the waters of port and competitors must take the flag placed at the end, without slipping into the water.
The exhibitions organised by the ENTE FIERA VERONA are different kinds of events, whose development reflects the vibrant economy of the region. They attract a qualified national and international public and involve many sectors including: wine, logistics, furniture, construction and agriculture.
Among the major events of great international importance:
- Vinitaly - the international exhibition of wines and spirits, an annual event for enthusiasts of the field who can learn, enjoy and appreciate the best wines in the world.
- Fieracavalli - the main international event for the entire horse industry is unique in Europe for the number and quality of initiatives and equipment exhibited, for its international competitions, and for the number of visitors, enthusiasts of horseback holidays and outdoor vacations.
- Marmomacc - International Exhibition of Marbles, Stone and Technology. It is a large showcase where you can admire the best traditions and domestic and international production innovations and works in the world, with many initiatives aimed at promoting the special features and richness of marble and the expressive potential of stone materials in architecture and design.
- Abitare il Tempo - the most exclusive trade fair for interior design, an event that brings together all highest level furniture retail categories, bringing tradition and avant-garde , as well as classic and contemporary together perfectly. In recent years, this event has attracted an increasingly international audience of interested and qualified people, and each year more and more visitors come to Abitare il Tempo.
